Underfloor Heating - Carpet

Floor Preparation.

When installing underfloor heating with carpet there is very little floor preperation needed, simply ensure the floor is free from dust and debris. It is recommended that the floor surface is flat and smooth before installing (see floor levels).

Installation Steps

  1. Roll out your 6mm therm-all insulation and cut so it covers the whole floor
  2. Place the carpet gripper rods around the edges of the room leaving a 7-12mm gap from the wall.
  3. Lay you ribbon underfloor heating mats on the insulation between the gripper rods.
  4. Use double sided tape on mats to stick the underfloor heating mats to the insulation
  5. Where required use additional high adhesive tape to ensure the heating mats are secured.
  6. Route the cold leads (live & neutral) to a junction box just above skirting board level
  7. Check the resistance of the heating elements matches with the resistance chart in installation manual
  8. Connect the cold leads using the revolutionary 5 lever quick connectors (more..)
  9. Lay your low tog underlay over the underfloor heating elements
  10. Lay your low tog carpet.
  11. See Electrical section for setting up electrics.
  12. Sit back and enjoy.

Special Notes:

When choosing a carpet underlay it is important that it is suitable for underfloor heating and is heavy duty. We recommend a rubberised underlay with a weave backing with a density between 30 & 35. If you are unsure of what you need you can purchase our recommended underlay direct from us.

While underfloor heating is in operation it is important that no thermal barriers are placed over the top of the heating elements, thermal barriers include boxes of books or paper, bean bags, heavy rugs, large quantities of bedding or high tog quilts. If you are unsure as to what can be placed over the underfloor heating please contact your vendor.
